Terms of Use

Version 1.0 · 23 August 2026

1. What this is

Story Places is a travel app that tells you about places. It is provided by Roman Kotzsch (address in the imprint). These terms cover the use of the app and of the website that belongs to it. By using them you accept these terms.

2. Your account

You can use Story Places without an account. For your own contributions and for the Local Guide role you need one; it is created through “Sign in with Apple”. You are responsible for what happens through your account. One account per person — anyone who has been blocked does not create a new one to get around the block.

You can delete your account in the app at any time. That ends this relationship.

3. What you contribute

You can send notes, suggest places, contribute your own pictures and — as a Local Guide — provide a profile photo and some details about yourself. We call all of this your contributions.

You confirm that you hold the rights to what you contribute. Someone else's pictures, someone else's words, and photographs of other people without their consent are not among them.

4. No tolerance

There is no tolerance here for objectionable content or for abusive behaviour. In particular, contributions must not

The same goes for how you treat other people: anyone who harasses, threatens or humiliates others does not belong here.

This rule covers everything you contribute — including what only our editorial team gets to see.

5. What we may do with your contributions

The rights to your contributions stay with you. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right to show, edit and translate them within Story Places — without it we could not publish them. If you delete a contribution or your account, that right ends for the future; for technical reasons already published versions may persist briefly.

6. Local Guides

Anyone looking after a neighbourhood appears with their first name, profile photo and a sentence about themselves at the places in that neighbourhood. That is the point of the role: travellers should know who stands behind the information.

The role is voluntary and unpaid. You can give it back at any time. We may withdraw it if you breach these terms or leave the neighbourhood unattended for a long period.

7. Reporting

Anyone can report contributions that breach section 4 — in the app through “Report this profile”, or by email to hello@storyplaces.app. We look at every report. We will tell you the outcome where we can reach you.

8. Removal and blocking

We may remove contributions that breach these terms and block accounts from contributing. For a serious or repeated breach we block without prior warning.

We will give you the reason for a block and tell you how to object. If you believe it is a mistake, reply to that message and we will take another look. Your right to seek legal remedy is unaffected.

9. Availability

Story Places is a young service and changes constantly. We do not owe you any particular availability or any particular set of features. Some content about places is generated automatically and may contain errors. Do not rely on us alone for opening hours, prices or directions.

10. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for damage arising from injury to life, body or health. For ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual duties, and limited in amount to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Liability is otherwise excluded. Liability under the German Product Liability Act is unaffected.

11. Changes

We may change these terms where there is a legitimate reason to do so. We will tell you in the app about significant changes. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.

12. Governing law

German law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory protective provisions of the country where you live remain unaffected.

This is a translation for convenience. In case of doubt, the German version applies.
